RV living

Prepare for a longer seasonal RV stay

A longer stay can provide a settled base, but it changes the care routine. Read occupancy terms, plan for the whole season and keep attention on a vehicle that may move less often. An occupied RV needs a different plan from an empty stored one.

Read the site agreement closely

Read the agreement for occupancy dates, permitted use, visitors, services and charges. Confirm the difference between keeping the vehicle there and staying in it. Ask what happens during closures or changes in weather.

Choose a pitch for the whole season

Consider drainage, wind exposure, access and the route to facilities throughout the season. Check the supply and service conditions, not just the pitch location. A convenient summer arrangement may be less workable in cold or persistently wet weather.

Manage comfort during changing weather

Heating, ventilation and laundry become continuing routines rather than occasional tasks. Manage moisture without blocking required vents. Plan supply replenishment and seek advice where the equipment is not suitable for the expected conditions.

Care for a vehicle that moves less

A parked vehicle still has tyres, batteries and time-based maintenance requirements. Follow the actual manufacturer instructions and inspect condition periodically. Do not assume being on a pitch eliminates mechanical or road-readiness concerns.

Plan departure or seasonal change

Before moving on, review servicing and perform the appropriate return-to-travel checks. If the vehicle will become unoccupied, switch to its storage preparation plan. Allow time to deal with issues before your departure day.

Questions you might still have

Does a seasonal pitch permit year-round residence?

Not necessarily. Read the occupancy and permitted-use conditions and confirm them with the operator.

How do I manage condensation during a long winter stay?

Use suitable heating and ventilation routines, reduce unmanaged moisture and investigate persistent symptoms. Do not solve warmth by blocking required vents.

Can I ignore vehicle care when it remains on one pitch?

No. Time, weather and inactivity still affect condition. Follow documented care requirements and prepare before the next journey.
